Addictio is a chamber choir, founded in the autumn of 2005 by its singers. All 30 members of the choir are experienced choral singers.
Addictio is conducted by Elisa Huovinen, a young professional choral conductor. She graduated as a master of music from the Sibelius Academy conducting department in spring 2016. Apart from Addictio she is the artistic director of the Student Union Choir of Turku University and student choir Wiipurilaisen Osakunnan Laulajat. She also works as a singer in various professional-level choirs and is regularly asked to substitute conductors in many Finnish choirs, such as Dominante, Akademiska Sångföreningen, Tapiola Choir and Somnium Ensemble. Huovinen has worked as a choirmaster in a production with the renowned Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir and Estonian National Male Choir. She educates herself regularly in international master classes.
In Addictio, a rare combination of high artistic standards and a fresh, joyful performance is met. The choir has given several concerts with a versatile repertoire, ranging from contemporary music to masterpieces of renaissance and music theatre for children. Addictio’s purpose is to offer music addicts an opportunity to indulge in their passion, to perform high quality music, to learn new things – and to have fun too. Because music and art are created to convey emotion and to give meaningful experiences for performers and audiences alike, Addictio seeks to touch the heart of the listener.
